The owners of electrical installations include the
landlords, occupiers, tenants, incorporated owners, and property
management agents of the building.

Responsibilities
of the Owners of Electrical Installations
|

 |
Arrange for proper maintenance and repair of communal
electrical installations in the buildings (including the main switch
and the riser supplying electricity to individual units and communal
services such as lifts, pumps, public lighting, etc.), as well as
electrical installations in their own premises including residential
apartments, shops and offices to prevent accidents.

Ensure that there is no illegal addition to or alteration
of electrical installations.

 |
Employ registered electrical contractors to carry
out electrical work (including new installation, addition, alteration,
inspection, testing and repair). The registered electrical contractors
should arrange registered electrical workers of appropriate grades
to carry out the work.

 |
Arrange for periodic inspection and testing of electrical
installations.

Name lists of registered electrical contractors/workers
are available for reference at the Electrical and Mechanical Services
Department (EMSD) Customer Service Office, Public Enquiry Service
Centre of all District Offices and EMSD web site at http://www.emsd.gov.hk.

Registered electrical contractors would display
their registration certificates prominently in their places of business.
|

|

Registered electrical workers would carry their
registration certificates while doing electrical work.
