1. When buying domestic electrical appliances, choose the models with an energy label.
   
2. Use electric fans instead of air-conditioning where possible.
   
3. Switch lighting on only when you need it, and switch it off when you do not use it.
   
4. When buying new lighting, consider choosing compact fluorescent lamps.
   
5. Keep windows and doors shut when the air-conditioner is running.
   
6. Try not to open and close the refrigerator too often.
   
7. Wait until you have a full load before washing - a half load uses the same amount of energy as a full load.
   
8. Use a low-temperature wash cycle as far as possible, and do not use too much detergent.
   
9. Take a shower instead of a bath. This will help save water consumption as well as heating energy.
   
10. For drying, it's helpful to sort clothes and other items according to their thickness, then dry them in batches.
   
11. Do not put hot/warm food into the refrigerator - let it cool to room temperature first.
   
12. Do not choose too cold a setting - it simply wastes electricity.
