Corporate Policies : Human Resources Development

Our Goal:

The management and staff of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department are committed to enhancing corporate core competencies and business performance through the continuous development of human resources.

Our Policy:

  • To provide quality training programmes for Engineering Graduates, Craft Apprentices and Technician Apprentices to meet institutional requirements and department business objectives.

  • To provide quality induction, safety, vocational, supervisory, information technology, quality, management and any other necessary staff training to enable effective and efficient service delivery.

  • To adopt a learning culture, which will motivate and support staff to learn and share knowledge and skills, that will enhance their intellectual, professional, technical and managerial capabilities.

  • To promote and foster learning and knowledge sharing with customers as well as our contractors and supplies in order to strengthen business partnerships.

Our Achievements:

Fully appreciating that our success lies in the hands of able and professional staff, we have taken a proactive role in the training and development of our people. We were pioneers in the setting up of an Apprenticeship Training Scheme, described as the backbone of our operations, in 1968. This tradition of training and development continues to this day with Engineering Graduate and Apprentice Training Schemes, quality programmes, management development and mandatory customer service training for all front line staff. Underlining our commitment to training and development, our Departmental Training Plan won an award among Hong Kong's Best Practices in Human Resources Development for 2000.
