To ensure that our public education campaigns answer public needs, we conduct regular surveys to gauge public awareness of safety and identify gaps in safety practices that may need to be addressed. The first such survey was held in 1999, as part of our on-going tracking and monitoring of public awareness, our recent survey was conducted in 2007.
The survey findings indicated fairly high awareness of safety and energy efficiency concepts. In some areas of enquiry, more than 95% of respondents gave correct answers, with other areas eliciting correct responses from more than 90%. These confirm our approach programmes to educate and communicate with the public and trades.
