At EMSD, we compile and manage data on the use of energy in Hong Kong with the publication of "Hong Kong Energy End-use Data" which is available free to anyone who requires the information. The publication covers the consumption data of the different energy fuel types and the specific purposes for which these fuels are consumed, e.g. space-conditioning, lighting, cooking, etc. The data provides a better understanding of energy consumption patterns and usage, arousing public interest and concern over the future development of energy in Hong Kong. Additionally, the information provides the government with the necessary information base for the formulation and evaluation of energy efficiency policies. To obtain information for continuous updating of the data, energy consumption surveys have been regularly conducted to gather latest field data.
