As part of the Government's ongoing efforts to promote efficient use and conservation of energy, the Government keeps track of the recent worldwide development of phasing out of energy inefficient incandescent lamps. The Government had commissioned the consultant to carry out a study for the overseas practices on phasing out of energy inefficient incandescent light bulbs as well as the nation's practices and approaches, and the availability of viable and efficient alternatives for different categories of lighting.
