EMSD is Hong Kong's official representative in the Energy Working Group (EWG) of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). APEC is a forum for member economies in the Asia-Pacific, promoting open trade and economic cooperation in the region. Regional energy cooperation is a key priority on the APEC platform, and all energy-related programmes, such as the adoption and implementation of the 14 Non-binding Energy Principles, are looked after by the Energy Working Group. Participating actively in EWG's events and activities, we share experiences, exchange information and gain valuable reference materials in the development of Hong Kong's energy programmes.
Our involvement with associated specialist groups such as the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Expert Group, Expert Group on Energy Data & Analysis and the Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies also provides information on the most up-to-date advances in technology, industry standards and policy developments among other economies in the region.
