The
safety of builders' lifts and tower working platforms at construction
sites is regulated by the Builders' Lifts and Tower Working
Platforms (Safety) Ordinance. Similar to our responsibilities
under the Lifts and Escalators (Safety) Ordinance, we:
Ensure
that these installations are installed, operated and maintained according
to the Ordinance, subsidiary Regulations and codes of practice issued
under the Ordinance through a series of work certifications and maintenance
of registers of qualified engineers and contractors to ensure their
safety.
Coordinate
with industry associations, workers' unions and other relevant
organisations to advise and promote safety issues.
Investigate,
report on and make recommendations for unsafe equipment
and installations, as well as carry out investigations into
accidents and complaints.
Ensure
that these installations are installed, operated and maintained according
to the Ordinance, subsidiary Regulations and codes of practice issued
under the Ordinance through a series of work certifications and maintenance
of registers of qualified engineers and contractors to ensure their
safety.
