How to apply - Modification of Gas Water Heater Flue Aperture Installation Location
Legislation Stipulation
The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations stipulate that where suitable provision has been made for the installation of a room-sealed gas water heater to serve a bathroom in any premises, irrespective of whether such provision is made in the bathroom or in any other part of the premises, no person shall install a room-sealed gas water heater in the premises to serve that bathroom except by using that suitable provision.
Who Should Apply
Any person, who wishes to use another suitable provision for installation of a room-sealed gas water heater to serve a bathroom in any premises, shall seek EMSD¡¦s approval before the installation work is carried out.
How to Apply
The home owner may engage a registered gas contractor to fill in an application form [PDF format (114KB)] and submit with the relevant work drawings, documents and other information to the Gas Standards Office, Electrical and Mechanical Department, 3 Kai Shing Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong by post or personally. The application will be examined for compliance with the relevant legislations and codes of practice. If the application is approved, an approval letter will be issued to the applicant. After the installation work is completed, the registered gas contractor shall provide a copy of a ¡§Certificate of Completion ¡¨ [PDF format (17KB)] to the home owner and keep a copy of it for record.
