Gas Safety Tips to Users :
Purchase, Storage, Replacement and Handling
of LPG Cylinders

Handling of LPG Cylinders

The gas users should

arrange for a registered gas contractor to check/repair the LPG cylinders or gas appliances once it is found that they do not operate normally;
use the pressure regulator provided by the respective gas supply company and protect it from damage;
check the service life expiry dates of the pressure regulator of the LPG cylinder and the flexible gas tubing, and arrange for a cylinder LPG distributor to replace the pressure regulator and the flexible gas tubing before they expire;
 if a gas leak is suspected, switch off the pressure regulator of the LPG cylinder and the gas appliances, extinguish all naked flames and open all windows, and arrange for a registered gas contractor to check/repair the LPG cylinder and the gas appliances;
if the gas leak is serious, leave the premises at once, notify their neighbours for evacuation and then call the Fire Services Department.

The gas users should not

× carry out gas installation work related to an LPG cylinder and its fittings by themselves or employ a person who is not a registered gas installer to carry out such work;
× use the gas appliances when they know/suspect that ventilation is inadequate or there is a gas leak;
× use the telephone or operate any electrical switches when they suspect a gas leak;
× ï” accumulate used LPG cylinders or use them for other purposes.
