Public Consultation Forum on Amendment Proposals
to the Lifts and Escalators (Safety) Ordinance

The Government has embarked upon a three-month public consultation since 30 November 2009 to seek views of the public on the amendment proposals to the Lifts and Escalators (Safety) Ordinance.

We are holding public consultation forums on both 5 January 2010 and 5 February 2010 to gauge the public views on the amendment proposals for developing the optimum solution to strengthen the regulatory regime and legislative controls over lift and escalator safety. Details of the public consultation forums are as follows:

1st Public Forum   (Enrolment Form)
Date: 5 January 2010 (Tuesday)
Time: 7:00 p.m. ¡V 9:00 p.m.
Venue: Lecture Hall, 5/F, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Sheung Wan Municipal Services Building, 345 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong

2nd Public Forum   (Enrolment Form)
Date: 5 February 2010 (Friday)
Time: 7:00 p.m. ¡V 9:00 p.m.
Venue: Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Space Museum, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Admission is free. Prior registration is required with the number of participants being limited to 140 and 180 for the 1st and 2nd forums respectively on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are interested in attending the forum, please complete and return the enrolment form to the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department by Fax or E-mail on or before the application deadline. Successful applicants will be notified by fax or e-mail.

Walk-in registration will be accepted if there are available spaces after the prior registration. In order not to cause any inconvenience to you, prior registration is recommended.
