The jurisdiction over the Oil (Conservation and Control) Ordinance was transferred to EMSD in mid-2000. Under the Ordinance, we regularly collect, consolidate and distribute data on imports, stocks and sales of oil products in Hong Kong; monitor the maintenance of strategic reserves of gas oil and naptha by the local oil companies and Towngas with a view to cushioning Hong Kong against any risks in oil supply; advise on matters relating to oil supply, storage and consumption; and deal with any other relevant matters under the Ordinance.
