Empowered by the Tramway Ordinance and Peak Tramway Ordinance, EMSD undertakes a monitoring role, supporting the Transport and Housing Bureau and the Transport Department in regulating the operation and maintenance of Hong Kong Tramways and the Peak Tramway. Our monitoring activities include carrying out inspections on the trams and peak trams on a regular basis and conducting periodic checks on the systems' electrical and mechanical components to ensure public safety.
