The total cooling capacity of the system is approximately 284MW. The proposed contract period is 8 years.

Applicants who are on the List of Approved Suppliers of Materials and Specialist Contractors for Public Works, Air-conditioning Category Group II (Confirmed) or the List of Approved Contractors for Public Works under the category of Buildings Group C (Confirmed) or the List of Approved Contractors for Public Works under the category of Roads and Drainage Group C (Confirmed), have completed at least one contract for the construction and design of District Cooling System with a contract sum of not less than HK$350 million in Hong Kong or any place outside Hong Kong, in the past 10 years counting from and including the original tender closing date (i.e. between 6 November 2000 and 5 November 2010, only such contracts with substantial completion date falling within the above stated period will be considered); and have completed at least one contract for the operation and maintenance of District Cooling System Facilities with a contract sum of not less than HK$10 million in Hong Kong or any place outside Hong Kong, in the past 10 years counting from and including the original tender closing date (i.e. between 6 November 2000 and 5 November 2010, only such contracts with substantial completion date falling within the above stated period will be considered) are invited for tender.

It is intended to invite tenders in year 2009/2010 from prequalified contractors to design-build-operate a District Cooling System at Kai Tak Development. The tenders to be invited will be covered by the Agreement on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organisation.

The scope of works of the contract is to design-build-operate a District Cooling System. The estimated cooling capacity of the system is 284 megawatt (MW). The proposed contract period is 17 years.

Applicants who are on the List of Approved Suppliers of Materials and Specialist Contractors for Public Works, Air-conditioning Category Group II (Confirmed); and have completed at least one contract for the construction and design of District Cooling System with a contract sum of not less than HK$350 million in Hong Kong or any place outside Hong Kong, in the past 10 years counting from and including the original date set for the close of receipt of prequalification submission (i.e. between 28 May 1999 and 29 May 2009, only such contracts with substantial completion date falling within the above stated period will be considered); and have completed at least one contract for the operation and maintenance of District Cooling System with a contract sum of not less than HK$10 million in Hong Kong or any place outside Hong Kong, in the past 10 years counting from and including the original date set for the close of receipt of prequalification submission (i.e. between 28 May 1999 and 29 May 2009, only such contracts with substantial completion date falling within the above stated period will be considered) are invited to apply for prequalification.
