Dedicated LPG Filling Stations Commence Services

On behalf of the Government, the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department, awarded two contracts for the construction and operation of five dedicated LPG filling stations in February 2000. Among the five stations, three have been completed ahead of schedule.

The three dedicated LPG filling stations at Kwun Tong, West Kowloon and Tai Po went into operation at 8:00 PM on 18 October 2000 while the other two dedicated LPG filling stations at Sheung Wan and Chai Wan will commence business around end of October 2000. These new stations raise the total number of LPG Filling Stations (Chinese Version Only) [Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (337KB)] in Hong Kong's network to 12, improving the LPG filling facilities considerably for the LPG Taxi Scheme.

The Chief Executive TUNG Chee-hwa, the Secretary for the Environment and Food, Mrs L. Yam, and department heads involved in the LPG Taxi Scheme attended the Opening Ceremony held at the Kwun Tong dedicated filling station on 18 October 2000.
