Considerations for Provision of Attendants for MVPS

Do I need atendants for my MVPS? Consider: • Operational needs • Size • Design

Provision of attendants for Mechanized Vehicle Parking Systems (MVPSs) is not mandatory.  Owners of MVPSs should assess the operational needs, complexity, size and design of their systems to decide whether attendants should be deployed.

Provision of attendants have the benefit of being able to alleviate operational hiccups and enhance the standard of services and operational efficiency of the system.  Where MVPSs are open for public use, the provision of attendants, who may also act as the shroff, is advisable to provide instant assistance to users.

There are however situations in which alternative options could fulfill the requirement of provision of attendants.  For instance, attendants may not be required in an MVPS for private use where users can be trained to use the system; in other cases, CCTVs and intercoms installed in the MVPS can allow operators in a remote location to guide the users.  In these cases, it may be advisable to provide proper training and/or instructions for the users.  Employment of an attendant for a limited period after the MVPS commences operation to guide new users is also a viable option for consideration by the owner.
