Project Details
The estimated total cooling capacity of the proposed District Cooling System (DCS) is about 106 megawatts of refrigeration (MWr), and the estimated total air-conditioned floor area is about 70 million square meters (m²).
The Phase 1 of District Cooling System Project at Hung Shui Kiu / Ha Tsuen New Development Area (HSK/HT NDA) will be implemented in two stages. Stage 1 involves laying works of underground DCS pipes which will tie-in with HSK/HT NDA Second Phase development infrastructure works. Stage 2 involves the construction of DCS plant and associated facilities, as well as DCS connection facilities in buildings of DCS consumers.
Current Status
Funding approval for Phase 1 Stage 1 was obtained in May 2024. The pipe-laying works under Phase 1 stage 1 commenced in June 2024.
The construction of district cooling plants is anticipated to commence in end 2026 and be put into operation in 2030. After completion, district cooling system will provide chilled water to commercial buildings and Government, institution or community sites in the vicinity of HSK town centre.
