About the Project

Project Details

The estimated total air-conditioned floor area is about 1.1 million square meter (m2) and the estimated cooling capacity of the proposed district cooling system is about 190 megawatt of refrigeration (MWr). The maximum annual saving in electricity consumption upon full utilization is estimated to be 42 million kilowatt-hour (kWh), with a corresponding reduction of about 29, 400 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission per annum.

 
Current Status

The project is being implemented in two phases to suit the development schedule of Kwu Tung North. Pipe-laying works under Phase 1 was commenced in February 2022.

The construction of Phase 1 District Cooling System Plant commenced in March 2024 and is anticipated to be put in operation in 2026. After completion, district cooling system will provide chilled water to retails, schools and MTR station in Kwu Tung North.
