Explanation of Terms


Information Provider The company/individual (specified person) who has submitted the specified information in respect of a product model under section 6 of Energy Efficiency (Labelling of Products) Ordinance, Cap 598.
Reference Number The number assigned to a product model by the Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services under section 8 of the Energy Efficiency (Labelling of Products) Ordinance, Cap 598.
Year The "Year" means the year in which the reference number is assigned or, where the energy efficiency grading is calculated in accordance with the new calculation method under section 12 of the Energy Efficiency (Labelling of Products) Ordinance, the year in which the new calculation method takes effect.
Brand The particular name used by a manufacturer or importer to identify a product range.
Model The particular name and/or number used by a manufacturer or importer to identify an individual product within a brand.
Energy Efficiency Grade (1 to 5) The energy efficiency grade calculated in accordance with the latest edition of Code of Practice on Energy Labelling of Products. Grade 1 being the most efficient and Grade 5 being the least efficient.
Annual Energy Consumption (kWh) The annual energy consumption, calculated by multiplying the measured power consumption at 26.7℃ and 60% relative humidity by an average of 450 hours per year, as presented in the test report submitted to the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department for assignment of reference number.   
Dehumidifying Capacity (litre/day) Means the ability of a dehumidifier to remove moisture from its surrounding atmosphere, measured in litres of moisture removed per 24 hours of period, as presented in the test report submitted to the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department for assignment of reference number.
Rated Dehumidifying Capacity (litre/day) Means the dehumidifing capacity of a dehumidifer as determined and declared by the manufacturer or importer of the dehumidifier in accordance with the standard and requirements specified in the Code of Practice.
Energy Factor (litre/kWh) Means the energy efficiency of a dehumidifier that is measured in litres of water removed per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of energy consumed at standard test condition, as presented in the test report submitted to the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department for assignment of reference number.
Refrigerant Medium of heat transfer, which passes through the closed refrigeration circuit.
Place of Manufacture The place/country in which the dehumidifier is manufactured.
Product being Supplied by Information Provider Whether the Information Provider still supplies the product model in Hong Kong.
Supply Information Last Updated Date The date on which the Information Provider notified the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department on whether he still supplies the product model in Hong Kong.
