3月8日凌晨約3時30分，獅子山隧道南行管道近出口位置發生大火。

我們的同事於火警後立即對隧道內的各項機電系統進行評估，以檢查有否因長時間受高溫影響而出現損毀。我們的同事夙夜匪懈，聯同隧道營辦商徹底檢查所有受影響的機電系統（例如通風、照明、消防和交通管制及監察系統），以確定有關損毀對交通運作的影響，以及所需的維修工作。

我們與隧道營辦商和其他政府部門一直合作無間，故能在事故發生後迅速應變。我們也嚴謹監督隧道營辦商的維修保養工作，確保即使在緊急情況下，所有機電系統仍能正常運作。

A major fire broke out in Lion Rock Tunnel at about 3:30 a.m. on
8 March near the exit of the southbound carriageway.

After the fire, our colleagues immediately assessed various electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems to check for likely damages caused by prolonged exposure to extreme heat. Our team worked continuously with the tunnel operator to carry out thorough inspections of all the affected E&M systems such as ventilation, lighting, fire services and traffic control and surveillance systems in order to ascertain the impact of the damages to traffic operations and the scope of necessary repair works.

We worked closely with the tunnel operator and other government departments and responded promptly to the incident. With close supervision of the tunnel operator’s maintenance works, we ensured that all E&M systems functioned properly during emergency situations.
