  1. When a train is on fire, passengers on board should :

    • Keep calm;
    • Report the fire to the Train Captain by using the Emergency Call Handle or Call Button and speaking into the microphone;
    • If the fire is inside the train compartment, move away from the fire and use a fire extinguisher if it is safe to do so;
    • If the fire is outside the train, stay inside the compartment and keep the hopper windows closed to prevent smoke from entering into the train compartment unless instructed by staff;
    • As the Train Captain will endeavour to move the train into the next station for evacuation, follow the instructions given by MTR staff or emergency services personnel to evacuate the train.

    • Keep calm;
    • Report the fire to staff or operate the fire alarm call point (break glass) if itis safe to do so;
    • Follow the illuminated exit signs or the instructions given by MTR staff or emergencyservices personnel to evacuate the station;
    • Avoid using the lift.

  3. The person should :

    • Keep calm;
    • Make sure the body is clear of the rails;
    • If possible, try to lie in the space underneath the platform edge or between the rails and the wall where there is more clearance;
    • Shout for help;
    • Wait for MTR staff to assist her/her back onto the platform.
  4. If you see someone fall onto the track, you should :

    • Press the Emergency Train Stop button on the pillars or platform wall wherever available;
    • Immediately report the incident to MTR staff;
    • Never go down to the track by yourself.
