Q: Where is the tallest observation wheel in the world?

A: The Hong Kong Observation Wheel (“HKOW”) (figure 1) operating in Hong Kong Habourfront, Central, was opened in December 2014. HKOW has a total height of 60m with 42 gondolas, with each gondola can hold 8 passengers. The maximum rotation speed is 2m/s. That means each gondola can travel 1 revolution in approximately 1.5 minute.

Comparing to the HKOW, the tallest observation wheel in the world is the High Roller (figure 2), with the height of 550 ft (167.6m). The High Roller was opened to the public in 2014 and is situated on the Las Vegas Strip, Nevada, USA. High Roller has 28 cabins with each can hold 40 passengers.
