Q: Which is the oldest amusement park in the world?

A: The oldest amusement park in Hong Kong is Lai Chi Kok Amusement Park, popularly known as “Lai Yuen” (Figure 1). Lai Yuen was built at Lai Chi Kok Bay in 1949, and was closed in 1997.

Now, Ocean Park and the Hong Kong Disneyland are two biggest amusement parks in Hong Kong. Ocean Park, the second oldest amusement park in Hong Kong, was opened in 1977, while Hong Kong Disneyland was opened on 2005.

The world's oldest operating amusement park is Denmark's Bakken, or Dyrehavsbakken as it is officially named (Figure 2), which was opened in 1593. The park is still currently in operation!
