With a view to strengthening communication with the industry and enhancing their safety awareness, EMSD, the Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering & Appliances Trade Worker's Union and the Hong Kong Electrical Contractors' Association jointly organize a technical seminar every year.

Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Annual Technical Seminar had been held virtually since 2020. With the relaxation of social distancing measures and to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department this year, the Annual Technical Seminar will be held physically.

The Annual Technical Seminar this year was held at the Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 18 September 2023 (Monday) evening.
