In 1997/98 the Municipal Sector Division formed a new sub-division to serve eleven government departments based at the new airport at Chek Lap Kok. The venues served there are the new Air Mail Centre, the Government Flying Service Headquarters, the air traffic control tower and complex of Civil Aviation Department, the airport police station and the airport fire station, among others. It also provides for the Airport Authority maintenance service for specialised systems such as airfield lighting, baggage handling system, fixed ground power supply system, trunk mobile radio system and high mast lighting.
