The 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong, co-organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association and Palexpo, the organiser of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, was held from 5 to 6 December 2024, showcasing more than 140 innovative projects and inventions from Hong Kong and across Asia, covering areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, sustainable energy and medical technology, with awards presented to promising projects. The EMSD achieved remarkable success again at the exhibition, winning two Gold Medals for its AI-Control System for Ventilation System and Wireless Connection to Field Equipment for Control and Monitoring, two Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal for other projects.

AI-Control System for Ventilation System

We first trial this ventilation management system in public toilets, in a bid to enhance indoor air quality and energy efficiency with AI technologies. The system combines AI and intelligent sensors. It uses indoor air quality sensors, headcount sensors and wet floor condition sensors to collect data, and employs an AI model to adjust the speed of the variable-speed fans precisely based on the real-time environmental and headcount data, thereby improving indoor air quality while achieving energy saving. The EMSD can widely apply this innovative technology to other indoor ventilation management systems in the future, so as to offer smarter, more efficient and greener solutions for various venues.

Wireless Connection to Field Equipment for Control and Monitoring

Generally, new remote field equipment can only be tested and operated after the cable is installed and connected to the central equipment and the field equipment. If the distance between the field equipment and central equipment is long and the cable ducting is blocked, cable installation will be quite difficult. This wireless connection system can control and monitor remote field equipment conveniently, using a flexible, secure, and reliable portable long-range wireless network, without the need to connect cables. With a dual-mode long-range wireless network connection function, it supports point-to-point and 5G mobile network connection. It is also equipped with a universal plug-and-play function to facilitate connection to various types of equipment, and is compatible with internationally recognised communication protocols and standards. These features significantly enhance the efficiency of controlling and monitoring field equipment.
