To assist client departments in digitalising maintenance service workflow, the EMSD began a trial of the Biomedical Engineering Services (BES) e-form platform in 2022. The platform was initially implemented for infusion pumps, and then gradually extended to include other medical equipment items. As at September 2023, the platform covered 33 types of medical equipment, achieving paperless workflow and greatly enhancing work efficiency.
Based on the specific work requirements set by the Hospital Authority, the platform can automatically match them with corresponding forms. Maintenance and management personnel can use mobile devices to process documents and view maintenance progress via the platform anytime and anywhere. It is estimated that approximately 40 000 maintenance cases can be handled annually with the use of the platform, effectively saving paper, time and manpower. In the future, we will continue to optimise the platform, promote its use to other clients, and expand its coverage to different types of equipment.
