From 10 to 15 October this year, the EMSD hosted its first large-scale shopping mall exhibition, Witty Bear Academy, to promote E&M safety and energy efficiency, and introduce the E&M industry. Held at The Wai, Tai Wai, the six-day event attracted over 10 000 members of the public, who acquired E&M knowledge through interactive edutainment games.
The opening ceremony on the first day of the event was bustling, with the attendance of school principals, teachers and students of a number of primary schools from the Sha Tin District. This marked the kickoff of the six-day event.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Mr Poon Kwok-ying, Raymond, the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, stated that the EMSD had been actively promoting public education and youth development through different channels such as the E&M Young Ambassador Programme and a mobile promotion truck. The initiatives are aimed at fostering a better understanding of the EMSD and the E&M trade among the younger generation, encouraging early interest to unleash their potential for future involvement in the industry.
In addition to interactive game booths with prizes and a virtual reality driving game, there were popular STEAM workshops, which allowed participants to engage as little engineers, learning about fundamental mechanical engineering principles and making models with their own hands. The EMSD mascot, Witty Bear, had also made appearances from time to time to take photos and interact with the public. The exhibition provided a pleasant E&M experience to adults and children in an ingenious way.
