Pursuant to section 52 of the Ordinance, the energy audit carried out before the full operation of the Ordinance on 21 September 2012 may be regarded as a valid energy audit, provided that it meets all the following 3 conditions:

1. the energy audit is carried out on or after 10 February 2012 (the gazette date of the EAC);
   
2. the relevant energy auditor possesses the qualifications required for registration as a REA; and
   
3. that auditor has been registered as a REA on or before (but not later than) 21 September 2012.

Energy audits completed before 21 September 2012

• The energy audit will be regarded as completed on 21 September 2012 and the 10-year validity period will be counted from 21 September 2012 inclusive.

Energy audits completed after 21 September 2012:

• The 10-year validity period will be simply counted from that actual completion date.
