Aiming for OHSAS 18001 Corporate Certification
As the OHSAS 18001 system is relatively new in Hong Kong, a consultant has been
working with the individual business units since the end of 2000 to develop
their OHSAS 18001 systems. The plan is to develop and implement systems for
the nine business units over the next few months to obtain corporate certification
in the final quarter of 2001. Achieving OHSAS 18001 certification will not only
ensure that our Safety Management Systems comply with international standards,
it will also cement our role as a responsible corporate citizen and a leader
in occupational health and safety practices within the local community.

Two awards on Quality Service Enhancement were also received from the Civil Service Bureau under their Customer Service Award Scheme last year. Held to promote a customer focused culture within the civil service, our team from Transport, Security and Central Services Division won a merit award for their responsive and comprehensive electronics maintenance and technical support services to the Fire Services Department; and our Energy & Environmental Management Team from the Health Sector Division took the award for their work on energy conservation and management in Hong Kong’s hospitals.
