The 2025 Legislative Council General Election (LCGE) was held on 7 December. In April this year, the EMSD was commissioned by the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) to provide technical support for the E&M equipment and power supply required for the LCGE.

Given the large scale of the LCGE, the EMSD commenced the preparatory work promptly upon acceptance of the commission. Comprehensive plans were formulated to provide temporary lighting, electrical installations and vote-counting video recording systems for over 600 polling stations across Hong Kong. We also provided project management and consultancy services for the power supply at the Central Counting Station (CCS), the Reserve CCS and the Central Command Centre, ensuring that these venues were equipped with UPS systems. In addition, 230 colleagues were assigned to provide information technology support for the REO to facilitate the smooth running of the LCGE.

On the polling day, over 1500 EMSD and contractor staff members were deployed to various polling and counting stations to offer on-site technical support. In addition, a fault call centre was set up at the EMSD Headquarters, operating continuously for more than 37 hours, with over 40 colleagues working in shifts to handle E&M issues. Thanks to the concerted efforts of colleagues from various divisions of the EMSD, all polling and counting stations throughout the territory operated safely and smoothly.
