The 15th National Games (15th NG), and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (12th NGD and 9th NSOG), collectively referred to as NG15, is a major national event to be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from November to December 2025. During this period, Hong Kong will host eight competition events and one mass participation event for the 15th NG, and four competition events and one mass participation event for the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG. The EMSD is responsible for providing professional E&M solutions and technical support to facilitate the smooth staging of the mega events.
The EMSD commenced preparations for the NG15 as early as June last year, assisting in inspecting, maintaining and upgrading the E&M, air-conditioning and electronic systems and facilities at the relevant venues. This ensured that the venues and facilities met the required standards while fulfilling the requirements of both the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong) (NGCO) and major technical partners. In addition, the EMSD has provided professional E&M technical consultancy to the Kai Tak Sports Park and collaborated closely with it to jointly support the NGCO in organising a “simple, safe and wonderful” NG15.
Since November last year, the EMSD actively participated in the test events organised by the NGCO, including basketball (Men’s U22), track cycling, fencing, golf, handball (Men), rugby sevens, triathlon and beach volleyball, providing technical support for the E&M systems at various venues. In late June this year, all 14 test events were completed, ensuring the smooth running of the official competitions.
In terms of power supply, the EMSD made advance arrangements by co-ordinating with the CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and the Hongkong Electric Company Limited to conduct power quality testing, power supply system enhancement and simulated power restoration drills for the key venues. These efforts enhanced the capability to respond to emergencies, ensuring the proper functioning of E&M facilities at the competition venues and the stability and reliability of the power supply.
The EMSD has been maintaining close contact and communication with the NGCO, major technical partners and the venues to understand and meet the E&M technical needs of all parties in a timely manner. We are committed to providing the best competition environment and experience for the athletes, allowing them to unleash their full potential and enhance their performance, while delivering an optimal viewing experience for spectators.
