Sanki induction cooker SK-IC810
  • Sanki offers free replacement service for one model of induction cooker

    Sanki Electrical Appliance (International) Limited (Sanki) announced a voluntary free replacement service on one model of "Sanki" induction cooker (model no. : SK-IC810) supplied between March 2011 and November 2011. According to a recent safety test conducted by Consumer Council, it was revealed that the partial printed circuit board and induction coil could be accessible by consumers once the small drawer at bottom casing was removed, posing a potential risk of an electric shock.

    Consumers, who are in possession of the induction cooker, are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Sanki to arrange for the free replacement service.     EMSD has released the updates up to 15 January for 2012 on the statistics of sampling results of fresh water cooling towers for Legionella bacteria and locations of cooling towers issued with nuisance notices depending on the sampling results under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance.   • Removal of Reference Numbers under Energy Efficiency (Labelling of Products) Ordinance, Cap. 598

    With effect from 22 December 2011, the reference numbers of three “TOSHIBA” refrigerating appliance models (GR-R45HDV, GR-H40HB1 and GR-H40HBA1) have been removed as these models failed in the compliance monitoring testing on energy performance under the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme. As a result, these models are not allowed to be supplied in Hong Kong. Please click here for details.

    With effect from 8 December 2011, the reference number of a "MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC" dehumidifier model (MJ-E100DX-H) has been removed as this model failed in the compliance monitoring testing on energy performance under the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme.   • Hong Kong Energy End-use Data 2011

    The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department has published the "Hong Kong Energy End-use Data 2011" which provide information on the consumption data of the different energy fuel types and the specific purposes for which these fuels are consumed, e.g. space-conditioning, lighting, cooking, etc. The data provide a better understanding of the energy consumption pattern and usage in Hong Kong.   • Second phase of Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme to take full effect Monday (19 September 2011)

    The second phase of the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme (MEELS) will be in full implementation from Monday (19 September). The coverage of the MEELS in the second phase has been extended to include washing machines and dehumidifiers. Starting from 19 September 2011, the two prescribed products of the second phase must also carry energy labels with information on their energy efficiency performance before they are supplied to the local market.   • Voluntary free preventive maintenance service on "SUNPENTOWN" model No. SF-308 electric fan

    Gold Best Limited announced a voluntary free preventive maintenance service on "SUNPENTOWN" electric fan (Model No. SF-308) supplied between April 2008 and December 2009. A recent safety test revealed that the electric fan has deficiencies including improper fixing of conductors.

    Consumers, who are in possession of the electric fan, are advised to contact Gold Best Limited to arrange for the free preventive maintenance service.   • Voluntary recall of two models of "Philips" hair dryer

    Philips Electronics Hong Kong Limited (Philips) has announced the voluntary recall of two models of hair dryer: model no. HP4931 (with week code 0832-1104) and model no. HP4940 (with week code 0808-1023), which were manufactured between February 2008 and January 2011. According to the information provided by Philips, the hair dryers in question may in very rare cases get overheated if left connected to the power supply for a prolonged period, posing a potential fire risk hazard even when switched off and not in use.

    Consumers are advised to stop using these hair dryers and immediately contact Philips to arrange for free replacement. For details, please call Philips' customer service hotline at 2145 5112. Please click here for a view of the hair dryers concerned [PDF format (248KB)].
