The EMSD won the Grand Award in the Technology Solution Category of the Hong Kong openBIM/openGIS Awards 2024 in June last year.

Ms Ip Tsz-yan, Jenny (left), a biomedical engineer, won the first Runner-up in the Open Section of the Young Professionals Exhibition and Competition 2024 with the ChillStream^® project.

The EMSD Annual Report 2023/24 received the Platinum Award in both the 2024 Vision Awards Integrated Report Competition and the 2024/25 Spotlight Awards Global Communications Competition, organised by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).

The EMSD received the Grand Award in the Handover Category of the openBIM Awards 2024 in October last year. The award demonstrates the Department's efforts and contributions to the development and application of open Building Information Modelling (open BIM) technologies.

The Kai Tak District Cooling System Plant No. 3 project received the "Association of Consulting Engineers of Hong Kong (ACEHK) Annual Award 2024".

The EMSD received a Gold Award, two Silver Awards, and the Best Use of AI Award for pioneering solutions at the Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Awards 2024.

The Kai Tak District Cooling System Plant No. 1 & 2 project received the "IFMA Asia Award of Excellence in Risk Management" from the International Facility Management Association.

At the 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong, the EMSD took two gold medals for its AI-Control System for Ventilation System at Public Toilet and Wireless Connection to Field Equipment for Control and Monitoring, and two silver medals and one bronze medal for other projects.

The ChillStream^® and the Ball Type Rolling Robot were First Runner-up in the Artificial Intelligence category and Second Runner-up in the Public Sector and Government category – Government & Citizen Services respectively at the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Alliance Awards 2024.

The high efficiency air-conditioning chiller replacement project at Tuen Mun Hospital, a collaboration between the EMSD and the Hospital Authority, won the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Region XIII Technology Award 2024 in the "Health Care Facilities (Existing)" category.

The EMSD has received the Hong Kong Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Award and the Global MIKE Award for three consecutive years, a testament to our effort and achievements in fostering innovation culture and knowledge management, gaining recognition both locally and internationally.

At the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the EMSD reached new heights, winning 12 awards for ten innovation and technology projects. The prestigious accolades included the Prize of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, two gold medals with the congratulations of jury, four gold medals, one silver medal, three bronze medals and the Best International Invention & Innovation prize. Jointly developed by the EMSD and the Civil Aviation Department, the Two-phase Immersion Cooling System for High Performance Computer Workstation received the distinguished Prize of the Republic and Canton of Geneva.

The EMSD Annual Report 2023/24 won Excellence and Distinction awards at the 31st Annual Communicator Awards in the categories of Design Features - Copywriting and Annual Report - Government & Municipal respectively. Our Social and Environmental Report 2023/24 also received Distinction award in the Annual Report - Environmental & Sustainability category.

At the Outstanding Apprentice Award Presentation Ceremony, Miss Chan Yin-lam (2nd right), then Technician Trainee II (Air-conditioning), received the Outstanding Apprentice Award and shared her training experience.

The EMSD Annual Report 2023/24 won the Bronze award in the Online: Integrated A.R. category at the 2025 Galaxy Awards from the MerComm, Inc.

The EMSD Social and Environmental Report 2023/24 won the 39th International Annual Report Competition (ARC) the Bronze award in the Script/Writing: Government Agencies & Offices category and the Honours award in the Non-Profit Organisation (Online A.R.): Government Agencies & Offices category.
