Continuous Promotion of the Digital Log-Books System for Lifts and Escalators
To digitise the maintenance records of lifts and escalators, and facilitate real-time monitoring, recording and management of relevant information by various stakeholders, the EMSD launched the Digital Log-books System for Lifts and Escalators (DLBs) in 2022. As at March 2025, over 62000 lifts and escalators have adopted the DLBs, far exceeding the target of 48000 set last year. We also continued to optimise the DLBs, such as releasing versions for different operating systems and adding a Submit Special Maintenance Records function.
Referencing Greater Bay Area Standards For Risk Assessments Of Lifts Lacking Essential Safety Devices
To continuously advance the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Standards, the EMSD has formulated a local risk assessment guideline on lifts by referencing relevant GBA Standards, local guides and industry practices. The guideline covers 157 test items to improve the safety of lifts lacking essential safety devices. After a round of industry and public consultations, we will launch the first phase of risk assessments as soon as possible.
