Training and Development

To foster continuous professional development, the EMSD delivered a wide range of training programmes aimed at enhancing staff competencies and keeping pace with industry innovations. Key initiatives include:
  • Technology Focused Training: Programmes on digitalisation, Building Information Modelling – Asset Management, Generative artificial intelligence (AI), and Web 3.0.
  • Comprehensive Skill Building: Courses in occupational safety and health (OSH), management, conduct and integrity, national studies, the Basic Law, and the National Security Law, and vocational skills.
  • Leadership Advancement: A senior management training course with Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management, equipped 39 departmental leaders with knowledge in corporate leadership and AI.
  • Enhanced Onboarding: Revamped programmes in line with strengthened civil service induction. Over 27500 training days delivered, averaging 5.59 days per staff.

Occupational Safety and Health

To enhance safety awareness, the EMSD implements training for staff and contractors, including mandatory Basic Safety and Safety Supervisor Training courses, seminars and competitions. Safety messages are communicated through digital platforms, and contractors must comply with statutory obligations and EMSD-specific OSH standards.

Mental Wellbeing

Staff wellbeing remains a key priority for the EMSD, with particular emphasis on mental health. A dedicated psychological support helpline has been established, and the EMSD is a signatory of the Mental Health Workplace Charter, outlining our commitment to a supportive work environment. The EMSD also continues to host recreational events for staff, as highlighted below.

Sports Events

Throughout the year, the EMSD Staff Club hosted various sports activities, such as bowling, badminton, long-distance running, and table tennis events for staff and their families, promoting health and social connection.

Community Engagement

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the EMSD Staff Club hosted a clean-up at Devil’s Peak in November 2024. Twenty hikers joined the event, promoting environmental awareness and countryside conservation.

Staff Engagement

To promote internal staff engagement, the EMSD Staff Club organised a range of team-building activities, including participation in a special race event in September 2024, bringing together colleagues from across our Department to strengthen teamwork through sports.
